New Life HumboldtPark FAQ

What kind of church is New Life?
New Life is a non-denominational Christian Church. You may have seen our name before because we have multiple campuses around the city of Chicago. We are a Christian church that is committed to transform lives and our community through the power and the love of Jesus Christ.

How long has this church been in the area?
What is now New Life Community Church started in 1986 under the leadership of Mark Jobe, but our historical roots in Chicago can be traced back much futher. The church on the corner of Springfield and Hirsch was called Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church and was incorporated in the late 1800s. After a century of significant ministry that included a vibrant church, school and multiple ministries, Bethel decided to give its facility and mission to New Life Community Church. In October 2008 Bethel held its final worship service and handed the ministry baton to New Life. We carry forward with a different name but in the same spirit as those who founded Bethel over 100 years ago.

Who are the pastors and staff?
The primary teaching pastors at our Humboldt Park campus are Danny Lopez and Freddy Cruz (Spanish). For a closer look at who makes up the team at our Humboldt Park campus click on the following link to About Us and then select “The Team”.

Is there a children’s program on Sunday mornings?
We currently have a children’s ministry called Kids Zone that serves children from birth to 5th grade. For security purposes each child must be signed in at the Kids Zone reception center. Each parent will receive a badge that they must present when signing their child out. Our children workers have been screened and trained for their position. If your child is sick we ask that you keep them with you during the worship service.

What should I wear?
This is one of the most common questions people ask. We do not have a standard church dress code, but generally speaking people come in casual or business casual clothes. We attract people from all ages and a variety of backgrounds, so come as you are. We look forward to seeing you not what you are wearing.

What if I still have questions?
If you have more questions feel free to call our main office at 773-838-9470 or email info@newlifechicago.org and someone from our staff will assist you.
